Last night Project Context & S.U.A.S. (Sheffield University of Architecture Society) presented an Oxford-style debate on architectural education today. Motion of the night, "should schools of architecture be dissolved?".
. On the proposing side, 00:/'s Alastair Parvin answered with a resounding "Yes! Unless...", challenging the floor to interrogate the current formal architecture education system. By abandoning the mono-vocationalism that architecture only lives in the property / construction sector, architecture schools can move beyond producing not just a new generation of graduates but a new generation of ideas.
